Our Little Merlot is a wine that emphasizes the fruity side of this variety. It regularly convinces with fresh berry flavours and a silky texture and offers early drinking pleasure.
The Little Merlot is the little brother of the Bein Merlot, hence the name. It is vinified with the same care and style, though matured in third and fourth fill barrels. It is made up from batches deriving from the more vigorous parts of our vineyard, from younger vines or from barrel regimes, which haven't been included in our flagship Merlot. And like the latter, it is complemented with a splash of Cabernet.
This wine is generally less tannic and earlier accessible than the Bein Merlot, though we still see it as a very serious wine, well able to mature for another 2-4 years. It is ideally served at 18ºC, and shows its best sides as companion to a meal. With it's attractive berry flavours and its juicy texture, it sits well on any table, from vegetarian to richly sauced beef.
